For who
The LOT schools are primarily meant for advanced students. This means that we do not accept students other than PhD students and second year research master students. Faculty, such as post-docs, are welcome to join.
Registration
To register for the LOT school please fill in the
Registration form. Ideally, students sign up for a maximum of two courses per week.
Registration for accommodation closed May 7,
registration for courses closed May 21.
Costs
Admission is free for those PhD students and second year research master students who are officially affiliated with one of the eight
institutes that participate in LOT. Please check with your own institute first before signing up for the LOT school.
Non-LOT students must pay the following tuition fee (lodging not included):
- One week: 175 euro
- Two weeks: 300 euro
N.B. The courses of the LBC section are free of charge for all researchers (PhD, post-doc, etc.) and second year research master students who are affiliated with a Dutch university or Dutch national research institute.
Lodging
Lodging is free for those PhD students who are officially affiliated with one of the eight

For non-LOT students and second year master students lodging is 47 Euro per person per night.
The registration closed May 7, 2010. For lodging this is a strict deadline; no lodging requests will be handled after this date. Make sure you have read the cancellation policy before you sign up for lodging.
Payment
After you registrated for the LOT Summerschool, you will recieve a payment form in your email box. Your payment can only be dealt with via Credit Card: Master or Visa. Borrowing someone else's card is no problem and can be noted on the form. The payment form has to be signed and send to the LOT Secrerary Office in Utrecht via scan, fax or regular mail, which is noted on the form.
Make sure your payment is done before the deadline of registration (May 7) to be sure of your participation!
Travel costs
PhD students affiliated with one of the eight LOT institutes can reimburse their travel costs using the Reimbursement form. Have you traveled with your OV-chipkaart? Please print out an overview of your travel expenses and send it along with your reimbursement form. Cancellation policy
Courses
Courses can be cancelled free of charge until one week before the first session of the course. If cancellation occurs within 7 days prior to the start of the course, only 50% of the fee will be refunded.
Lodging
Hotels can be cancelled free of charge until 5 days before the first reserved day of arrival at the hotel. If cancellation occurs within 5 days prior to the start of the course, only 50% of the fee will be refunded.
Certificate
Participants receive a certificate worth 40 LOT credits (equal to 20 study hours) when attended a minimum of four sesions for each course. Your own university will decide how many ECTS credits you will receive for this amount of study hours. During each course an attendance sheet will circulate. Please sign this each session of the course, because otherwise you won’t receive the certificate.
Credits
Master students affiliated with one of the LOT institutes can earn 10 ects from their local university by participating in four courses (over two weeks), and writing an extended research paper (about 20 pages). More information can be found
